125 Organizations Providing Essential Services to Children & Families Recognized as Top-Rated Nonprofits
GreatNonprofits today announced that 125 providing essential services to children and families across the country have qualified for the 2011 Top-Rated Children & Families Nonprofits List based on user reviews submitted during a national campaign in April.
The reviews were posted as part of the 2011 GreatNonprofits Children & Families, conducted in partnership with GuideStar and the Alliance for Children and Families.
Over the course of the campaign, more than 190,000 people visited the GreatNonprofits site to read and write reviews. A total of 407 nonprofit organizations were rated and reviewed by stakeholders. In the process, a total of 2,662 new user reviews were gathered. All the organizations on the top-rated list received ten or more positive reviews.
During the month of April, thousands of reviewers helped tell the story of how these organizations strengthen our communities by supporting and empowering children and families. Among the nonprofits making the top-rated list is Lincoln Child Center, an organization working to enable vulnerable and emotionally troubled children and their families to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
“Lincoln Child Center has been a leader in helping disadvantaged and disenfranchised communities for 128 years and will continue to provide critical services to those that need them. During the process of gathering reviews for GreatNonprofits, we were able to really take a deep look at what people think of us and the services we provide. GreatNonprofits provided a user friendly platform to receive that feedback and also allowed us to really have peoples voices be heard.”
“Big Brothers Big Sisters holds itself accountable for helping children mentored in our organization achieve academic success; avoid risky behaviors; and have higher aspirations and self confidence,” added top-rated Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s President and CEO Karen J. Mathis. “The greatnonprofits.org reviews are consistent with independent studies that support these measurable outcomes.”
